The Urdu Department of Kidderpore College made history on December 5, 2024, by organizing its first-ever book fair for students in Room No:11 on the college campus at 11:00 am. The event marked a significant milestone in the college’s 55-year history.
Believed to be the first such initiative by a department within Bengal, the book fair aimed to promote academic and literary interests among students and foster a love for reading. Students from various semesters and faculty members from other departments actively participated in the event.
The success of the book fair can be attributed to the support of Dr. Abhijeet Ganguly, Principal of the College, and the dedicated faculty of the Urdu Department.
Professor Sudkhishna Sarkar Ray of the Political Science Department inaugurated the event while Dr. Razia Sultana compared the event.The fair concluded at 1:00 PM.A photograph captured the inauguration ceremony, where Professor Sudkhishna Sarkar (Ray) is seen officially opening the book fair.
Notably, the book fair not only featured books from bookseller Atta Book but also included contributions from the department’s own faculty members.
