The Students’ Health Home has clinics which have specialized medical facilities located on the college campus that cater to the healthcare needs of students. These clinics provide a range of medical services, including preventive care, treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, mental health support, and health education programmes tailored to the needs of the student population. The primary aim of these clinics is to promote and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students during their academic journey. By having on-campus clinics, colleges can address the unique health concerns of students, such as stress-related disorders, nutritional guidance, sexual health, and substance abuse. These clinics also play a crucial role in promoting health awareness, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices among students. They also serve as a valuable resource for students who may not have easy access to healthcare facilities outside of campus or who suffer from financial constraints in seeking medical care elsewhere. Furthermore, Students’ Health Home clinics often collaborate with counselling services, disability support centres, and campus wellness programmes to provide holistic healthcare solutions that address the physical, mental, and social aspects of students’ well-being. Additionally, these clinics may offer immunization programs, health screenings, and referrals to specialized medical providers when needed, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for students.
Our college has established a sub-committee for the Students’ Health Home (SHH), consisting of a coordinator and several designated faculty members. This sub-committee maintains regular coordination with the SHH, Government of West Bengal, Kolkata Regional Centre. Over the past few years, our college’s SHH unit has participated in a state-wide health movement rally organized by the SHH, Government of West Bengal. Additionally, our SHH unit has conducted a special lecture on health awareness and the SHH movement in association with SHH, Government of West Bengal. We are striving to ensure that all our students benefit from the Students’ Health Home Card, which provides access to subsidized medical facilities offered by the SHH, Government of West Bengal.
